The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher
Over the years, many have enjoyed coming home and visiting the Stronghurst Park. It is a favorite place for those of us who grew up around Stronghurst and for those who return home for a visit.
It is nice to see there are still so many good folks who volunteer their time and talents to help with a project to improve their community.
It is a delight to see the park full of so many families, clubs, and individuals who are enjoying it today.
The park now offers many more choices for children, families and seniors as they meet.
The majority of people Do Care For The Park.
Don't get discouraged for it is only a few individuals who are thoughtless and tear up the things that others make for their enjoyment.
Thanks to the Stronghurst Booster Club, the Stronghurst Village Board and the City Employees, the Volunteers, those who planted flowers, helped install, dig, construct, or who continue to use the park and take care to keep it clean.
Residents also appreciate all the physical work Tony Griepentrog gave in leading in this project for the Village and to Tom Doran who applied for the Grant in Springfield.
Citizens can thank them and all the others who helped by watching the park and reporting vandals or pranksters to the police.
Call it a park watch. Call it a Neighborhood Watch. Call it a Community Watch, the name isn't important. What is important is the affirmative action to be a part of a caring community that will keep the park secure for all who come.
