Well Organized People Make the Difference
To the Editor:
My precious deceased wife (Beverly George) had a very nice and well organized memorial service recently, six months after her passing on to heaven.
Many people made important contributions in making it a memorial event. Often, behind the scenes, workers go unnoticed. Some of these include: Dessa, with her heart-felt written tribute, Jane M (the church's very effective secretary), John J. (the sexy sexton), Mary M. (the artistic pro), Pastor Bill, my brother-in-law Jack, my sister Jean, the willing volunteer Deacons, the outstanding adult and bell choirs (if you listened closely, you could hear Beverly singing and ringing bells).
She was also the one who brightened up the whole sanctuary with her beaming smile of appreciation.
Linda and Sheila did very well with their professional duet. Jeanne did an excellent job as cantor for The First Song Of Isaiah.
As usual, you can always count on Andrea to be in charge of a significant role. Bob and Andrea Bowen exemplify what true Christianity is all about.
When you are going through your most grieving time in life, they are right there, doing and saying all the right things. This also applies to the Kelloggs, Joneses, Rodeffers, and Nimricks.
While talking about very well organized events, the Ram's night at Hanson Field the other night is very well worth mentioning.
It was the most enjoyable evening I have spent in a long time, especially since it was free! It was especially interesting to see the outstanding rookie group perform. Curtis and McDonald remind one of twin Hakims with their quickness and smooth routes.
Niklos, the tight end for W.I.U. last year was especially impressive as the Rams starting fullback. He showed that he has the good hands to be a definite threat as a receiver out of the backfield.
After being a fullback in college, I can appreciate it when he says it is more enjoyable to have a running start when blocking.
The other day at a special teams practice, an assistant coach was holding a blocking shield for backs to practice their blocking techniques.
Niklos showed his best skill when he hit the shield and the coach went flying backward landing on his rear end. (Which is where I often ended up.)
The people at W.I.U., the Rams' coaches and personnel certainly deserve recognition for precision organization and minute detail.
Even the fireworks afterward were very different and enjoyable.
Last, but not least, it was interesting to sit beside and converse with former mayor, Tom Carper, and his nephews!
The speed and enthusiasm which Coach Martz emphasizes in Ram practices is what is going to keep the Rams a step ahead of other teams.
It is certainly good to see the whole organization with the positive attitude which is reminiscent of the Rams when they were world champions!
