Before the recently elected members of the Southern School Board could take their place Monday evening, a meeting with the old members was held.
The board approved the agenda and minutes before canvassing the votes: Rod Fox-266; Brad Arnold-246; Dan Bowman-239; Brendan Schaley-214; Richard Clifton-194 and Mark Parrish-115.
Following a 30 minute closed session the board voted unanimously to hire Jeff Nichols, on the agreed terms, as Junior High Principal.
A motion was made by Doug Brooks, seconded by Melissa Livermore to rehire all athletic coaches. The motion passed on a 4 to 2 vote, with Barry Bigger and Karen Jack casting the no votes.
With no further old business to conduct, the board adjourned Sine Die, at which time Superintendent Charlie Barber presented Bigger, Jack, and Bundy with parting gifts in appreciation of their work.
The board reconvened at 7:45, at which time Supt. Barber was appointed temporary chairman and Sharri Richard as secretary for the purpose of electing a new president.
Jon Corzatt was voted in as President.
With Jon presiding Doug Brooks was elected as Vice President; Melissa Livermore as Secretary and Dan Bowman as Assistant Secretary.
New board members were asked to fill out a survey and will be assigned to board committees before the next regular meeting.
The board entered closed session again at 7:55 p.m.
No action was taken following the session.

The next board meeting will be held Monday, April 28th at 7 p.m. in the school unit office.
