The Lomax Annual Fireman's pancake supper raised $2,473.00. $51 from a baby quilt raffle donated by Roxie Evans, $1206 raised from a Ducks Unlimited Shotgun and $1216 raised from the pancake/sausage supper.
Funds from the evening go toward buying necessary equipment.
The drawing at the end of the meal revealed Randy May of Lomax winner of the $300 Shotgun, Dan Magner of Media winner of the baby quilt. The firemen also gave away door prizes. Dorn Luder of Dallas City, won a car fire extinguisher. Dan Coleman of Lomax won a smoke detector as well as Marcella Bowman of Burlington, Iowa.
According to Suzanne Grisham, wife of the Lomax Fire Chief, their fire department averages 15-20 calls every six months
Lomax Firemen displayed the Jaws Of Life equipment they had purchased for $17,231.00 with funds from earlier fundraisers plus a generous donation from the Village. Finishing up 2 1/2 cases of pancake mix, (six boxes per case, and approximately 80 pancakes per box) means a lot of pancakes were fried Saturday evening on the Lomax Firemen's nifty grill. Helping with the annual fundraiser are from left: 2nd Assistant Chief Byron Sparrow, Richie Thompson, Shawn Stromquist, Tony Stromquist, Dennis Huffman, Heath Andrews, and Chris Huffman, all of the Lomax Fire Dept.
Henderson County Deputy Steve Henshaw is receiving the royal treatment in service from Tom Graw, serving a drink, and Fire Chief Brian Grisham serving sausage and pancakes.
