The La Harpe City Council meeting met Monday, November 11th and discussed recycling.
Waste Management has notified the city that some residents are setting out the recyclables and waste after the required time of 6:00 a.m. on the specified days for pick up. To avoid repeated trips down streets, they ask the residents to set waste out before this time.
Graves reported that a new sewer plant flow meter was ordered and is in place of the old one. He was unable to get replacement parts for the old meter. The cost of the new meter was $2,100 instead of the previously stated amount of $3,100.
Once again, the leaf burning has begun. Some residents with health problems have complained about the smoke. The residents who burn leaves are asked to be considerate of others when leaf burning and do so at a time that won't be disruptive for others.
The historical society museum building is satisfactory. A firewall is in place and the back door now opens.
Conch Drive, area where the new school houses are being built, will be receiving a street light at the entrance along with two more lights.
Brown attended the legislative meeting at Peoria's Civic Center on November 11.
Thompson reported appreciation and the success of the youth trick or treating for canned food items for the food pantry. The pantry shelves are full.
The City Council will meet again on Monday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall.
