by: Shirley Linder Quill Editor

Sheriff Mark Lumbeck reported to the Stronghurst village board members that 4 juveniles have been arrested for damage in the village park.

Damage to the newly installed firemen's bell, tables and electrical work was reported at the October board meeting.

The juveniles have been turned over to the State's Attorney David Vancil, and the Juvenile Probation Officer. The sheriff also reported 1 juvenile has been arrested for a home burglary and another burglary is under investigation.

The sheriff also reported a disorderly conduct arrest and information pertaining to driver and passenger safety and reckless driving had been taken care of during the month of October.

In the absence of President Eric Chockley, Terry Myers conducted the meeting Monday, November 4th by asking everyone to rise and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tony Griepentrog reported while the park work is proceeding, the weather is not cooperating, which is slowing the work down.

They hope to get the rest of the playground equipment installed as soon as possible as the chips for the ground will be delivered on the 15th.

Lawrence Neff inquired about the lights that are to be installed in the shelter house. Since this project has not been completed the board directed Terry Myers to consult with Gene Ray about doing the project.

Tony Griepentrog said Elizabeth Street would be closed Tuesday through Friday (this week) for repairing the railroad crossing.

Tony also reported Eric Chockley will check into cell phones for the 3 city employees.

Terry Myers reported recycling needs to be set out by 6 a.m. every other Wednesday for pick up.

Lawrence Neff announced the MST Fire Department donated $1100 toward the bell erected in the park, which cost $12,000, according to David Vancil.

The meeting ended with a discussion of R.E.C.Recycling's move to the former Dehner Welding building. The question of zoning concluded that the property is zoned commercial and the village cannot prevent the business, owned by Tom Edmunds, from moving in. However, they will require Tom to follow ordinance regulations of the village which encourages businesses to be courteous of their neighbors.

Present were: Lawrence Neff, Robert Scott, Terry Myers, Frank Avery, David Vancil and Tony Griepentrog, Sheriff Mark Lumbeck, Eileen Cargill, Lori Russell, Tony Anderson, Bob Carmean and guest Bob Hamilton.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.. The next meeting is Monday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m.
