On Thursday, May 23, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., the La Harpe Christian Academy held their High School and Eighth Grade Graduation and Awards ceremony with a large crowd of family and friends in attendance.
Graduates from Eighth grade were: Meranda Reed, Valerie Stephenson, and Ashley Yaley.
Graduating from high school was Billy Smith who also received a presentation for most Godly Character.
Other awards given were: Primary grade, Most Considerate (Cheirstyne McCoy), Most Creative (Maisie Reed), Most Observant (Leo E. Hanks, Jr.), Most Humble (Cristen E. Rudofski).
Middle School, Most Faithful (Karl D. Flaherty), Most Optomistic (Seth Martin), Most Confident (Keith Rittenhouse), Most Courageous (Parrish Martin), Most Honest (Cassandra Kugler).
Most Scriptures Memorized Award: (Stefanie Van Trump), Physical Ed Award: (Jinny Mae Kukuk), and highest G.P.A. Award: (Audra Stephenson).
Special highlights of the program included " Spread the Good News", a speech, "Brother Ira", presented by Tara Forquer, who also was presented with a speech award by Principal Jackie Ferguson, "My Country Tis of Thee" sung by all of the academy students, as well as recitations of The Lords Prayer, The Twenty Third Psalm, The Story of Zacchaeus and The Armour of God presented by the Senior and Eighth Grade students.
The presentation of awards was given by the Principal of La Harpe Christian Academy, Jackie Ferguson, who also presented Pastor Darryl Martin with a special appreciation plaque for his dedication to the school.
Appreciation was given to all those who helped in any way with the Academy during the year and congratulations to the graduates for a job well done.
A reception for the graduates was held in the church fellowship hall after the ceremony and everyone was welcome to share in the refreshments of graduation cake, cookies, and punch.
