The LaHarpe-Northwestern varsity baseball team captured its second straight Bi-County Conference title in the two-year existence of the baseball conference with a doubleheader sweep of Colchester.
On Monday, May 6, the Indians visited LaHarpe for the crucial twinbill. Needing at least a split to take the crown, the Thunder did one better by taking both games, by the scores of 8-1 and 1-0.
In game one, Jason Myers threw a 3-hitter to lead the Thunder. He struck out 7 while posting his eighth win of the season.
Kyle Duffie and Jason Siegworth had 2 hits and 2 RBI's each.
Lane Metcalf also had 2 hits, while Myers helped himself with 2 hits and an RBI.
A.J. Huston, Jensen Jones and Chase DeCounter also added hits in the win. Jones had 2 RBI's as well.
Game two was a classic pitchers' duel between Colchester's Jacob Bice and L-N's Jason Siegworth. Siegworth tossed a 2-hitter, striking out 10 to lead the Thunder to the 1-0 win; a win that gave the Thunder a perfect 10-0 record in the conference.
The only run of the game came in the first inning. Chase DeCounter doubled with one out and moved to third on an error.
Jason Myers then singled him home. Siegworth then went to work and made the run stand up to post his seventh win of the season.
