SJH Boys Split With Roseville

The Southern Jr. High boys track & field team hosted Roseville at Media on Thursday, April 25. The meet, originally scheduled as a triangular with LaHarpe, was the only meet of the week for the entire boys squad due to Wednesday's storm.

The 8th grade boys from Southern took top honors with a 75-30 win over Roseville! Darick Clark and Adam Corzatt led the Raiders to victory with three individual firsts each!

Clark took first place in the 400 m dash, the 800 m run, and the long jump. His winning jump of 19'5" is again a new school record at Southern! Corzatt took firsts in the 110 m hurdles, the 1600 m run, and the shot put.

Jerry Morris, ailing from a muscle injury and unable to run, still managed to win the high jump for the Raiders.

All three of the SJH relay teams took first as well! The 4x100 winners were Blake Fox, Ross Gullberg, Tanner Hartman, and Brad Buss.

The 4x200 winners were Abe Chockley, Ryan Utter, Corzatt, and Clark. The winners in the 4x400 were Fox, Hartman, Utter, and Gullberg. Jimmy Bride also scored in the meet for the 8th grade.

The 7th grade boys didn't fare as well as the 8th grade with the final score ending up Roseville 73, Southern 32.

There were a few bright spots for Southern though. Andy Chockley won the 110 m hurdles, while Brice Jack threw for first in the shot put.

The 4x200 relay team of Chockley, Jack, Cameron Hartman, and Sean Webb also took first place.

Layton Housman, Cody Postle, and Josh Harkness also scored points for the Raider's 7th grade squad.
