SJH Boys Fare Well at Bushnell

The Southern Jr. High Boys Track and Field team traveled to Bushnell on Monday, April 29th for a dual meet to help tune up before the Sand Valley Conference Meet.

The Raiders enjoyed running on the new track, turning in some very food times.

In the 8th grade meet the final score was Southern 67, BPC 37.

Darick Clark and Adam Corzatt each took first place in three events for the Raiders. Clark won the long jump and the 800 meter run.

He ran the 200 meter dash, not one of his regular events, in a scorching time of 24.9 seconds! Corzatt won the 110 hurdles, the 1600 meter run, and the shot put.

His time of 5:28 in the 1600 was his best of the year! Jerry Morris, although nursing a muscle injury and unable to run or high jump, still threw the discus 130' 7 1/2" for first place!

Ross Gullberg filled in nicely in the high jump taking fist place with a personal best jump of 5'.

The 4x200 relay team of Corzatt, Clark, Abe Chockley, and substitute Sean Webb won with a time of 1:57.

The 4x400 team of Blake Fox, Gullberg, Tanner Hartman, and Ryan Utter took first place in a time of 4:34.

Although the 4x100 team of Fox, Gullberg, Hartman, and Utter did not win, they ran a season best time of 54.2.

The 7th grade team didn't fare that well in team scores, falling to BPC by the score of 85-22. Layton Housman was the only winner for Southern, taking first place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:38. Andy Chockley, Josh Harkness, Brad Buss, Cameron Hartman, and Sean Webb scored for the Raiders by placing in the top three in their individual events.
