The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Dallas City Clean-Up Days May 24, 25, & 26.
The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting on April 24, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. and discussed City Clean-Up Days.
The board wants folks to know that the dumpsters are being supplied for members of the community only, not rural or out-of-town folks due to the cost to the city. Anyone using the dumpsters must show proof that they are a resident of Dallas City by bringing their water meter stub.
City Clean-Up is scheduled for May 24, 25, & 26.
Mayor Lila Gittings called the meeting to order with the following Commissioners present: Nick Huston, Harold Northup, Jr., Esther Newberry, and John Pieper.
Others who were attending the meeting were Chris Classen, Carolyn Watkins, and Carol Farquhar.
Chris Classen discussed the boat ramp and the washed out area on the upper ramp. The board will check on getting this repaired as soon as possible. They also discussed a break at a Rural Water meter pit on Greeky Hill.
Carolyn Watkins and Carol Farquhar appeared and explained a program for youth. This is a summer recreation program. There is a grant but they must raise money to match the grant funds. They asked if the City would be willing to make a donation.
A motion was made by Pieper, seconded by Huston to pay $500.00 toward this project, and the City would like a report at the end of the summer program. All board members approved the motion.
Harold Northup discussed the City web site. This is still being worked on and should be available in the next thirty days.
John Pieper advised that the Great River Community Center will replace the tennis court nets.
A motion was made by Huston, seconded by Pieper to pay Hancock County Economic Development Association $2,500.00. This is part of a three year agreement. All approved.
A motion was made by Pieper, and seconded by Huston to pass Ordinance#541 to abate a portion of tax to pay bond and interest. All approved.
The minutes of the April 10, 2002 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
