The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Union's Earth Day celebration is a tradition students look forward to.
Their rooms are decorated in different themes, and they enjoy carnivals and games. A lot of work and planning go into each class rooms decorations. Some rooms are the ocean, some the rain forest, but all have to do with "The Wonders Of The Earth" - this year's theme.
Between 6:30 and 7:00, the concert began for parents and guests.
After The National Anthem by Mrs. Ferguson and Explanation of Earth Day Theory by Mr. Giles, Narrators spoke seven parts. They were Heather Schrock, Jesse Sams, Mallory Nelson, Zach Hussey, Michael Lewis, and Luci Lox.
Pre-K through 3rd Grade performed the following songs: "Wonders Of The Earth", Going to Grandmother's Farm, The Earth Is A Wonderful Place, Skip to My Lou, We've Got the Whole World In Our Hands; The Continental Blues, The Ocean's Alive; A House Is A House For Me, North Pole, South Pole, In A Cavern, In A Canyon, Tiny Little Creature, Layers Of The Forest, and closed with Illinois - our state song.
Everyone learned a little more about the earth they live on, and the children and their families and guests enjoyed the evening.
