Minnie Wheatley Gatten of La Harpe, born in 1914 and was raised in Lomax, where she attended school.

Her parents were John and Nellie Williams and she grew up with one brother and two sisters, Lesley Williams, Sylvia Spiker, who resides in Oak Lane Nursing Home in Stronghurst, and Mary Ochsner, now deceased.

After Minnie graduated from school she was employed by the Lomax Canning Factory for eight years where she peeled tomatoes.

On June 6, l936, Minnie Williams married Herbert Wheatley, now deceased. They moved to Dallas City where they raised eight children, Rosetta Kitzman, Clyde Wheatley, Eugene Wheatley, Robert Wheatley, Joan Thomas, and Virginia Palmer, as well as Norma Shirts and David Wheatley, who are now deceased.

Later in life, Minnie Wheatley married Elmer Gatten.

Minnie now resides in La Harpe and is of the Nazarene faith. Her hobbies include embroidery, making pot holders and reading. Minnie loves life, enjoys her family and her hobbies.
