The Quincy University Hawk baseball team completed a three-game series sweep of Bellarmine University Sunday afternoon at QU Stadium with a 9-3 nine-inning victory. QU defeated the Knights 2-1 and 8-2 in a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Hawks (17-8, 5-1), currently atop the standings in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, were led by the pitching staff in game one, as sophomore right-hander Matt Rodeffer, Stronghurst/Southern, threw six complete innings, allowing five hits and one unearned run, while walking three and striking out seven batters to improve his record to 3-2.
On Friday the Hawks play a double-header at QU Stadium against conference Wisconsin-Parkside (Rodeffer will pitch starting at noon). A third game starts Saturday at noon. Off Easter Sunday, QU resumes play Monday, April 1 hosting Truman State University at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to SIU/Edwardsville for a double header and to Indianapolis April 6-7 for three games.
