The Girl Scouts of America Troop #50 from Southern hosted the Henderson Service Unit Lock-In for eight-six (86) registered girls.
Friday, March 22 at SHS, these 8th grade girls were in charge of all the planning and carrying out of the evenings events.
They included a flag presentation by the Henderson County American Legion Post #765. The girls were shown flag etiquette and symbolism.
The Ropers, from Union Elementary, performed their energizing and amazing roping skills before the girls were broken down into Patriotic groups to work at five different stations of crafts and games.
As the evening wore down, one hundred and two girls and adults made their make-shift beds on the big gym floor at SHS. The die hards stayed up in the small gym and played games, snacked, and watched movies until the wee hours of the morning.
This annual event is one that is looked forward to every year by the girls.
Of the 14 Troops in the Henderson Service Unit, 13 were represented. As for the girls in Troop #50Ñ Lynn Buss, Shayna Heap, Maygen Johnson, Paige Lafary, Mara Lefler, Symone Robinson, and Kristen PetersonÑ they worked hard and will earn their Silver Award for this project.
