The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
In 1833 Henderson County was strictly a wilderness; Indians, wild animals, and isolation were just some of factors of everyday life.
The lure of opportunity and the promise of prosperity enticed many to brave such conditions and journey west.
Into such an environment came Frederic Davidson, his wife Elizabeth and two children, Marion and Martha. Leaving their Indiana home they trekked to a point near Ellison Creek in Warren County and lived there for one year.
Finding a better spot, Frederic moved the family down stream a mile or two to an edge of a long point of timber within the limits of present day Henderson County.
Here he built a cabin and began pioneering life again in earnest.
Both Frederic and his wife Elizabeth are buried in Davidson Cemetery in Section12 of Media Township. He lived to be 63 years old and she died when 84 years old.
