The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
On March 3l, 2002, La Harpe Motor Sales, Inc. and the Ford franchise will be terminated, and K and C Enterprises, a used car dealership and repair service will open business on April 1, 2002 in its location.
Owners Wayne
E. Yetter and Billie L. Hasten will be retiring after being partners since
October 1, l959 at a time La Harpe Motor Sales was located in a building
up town.
They remained there until July of l975, when the two men incorporated under La Harpe Motor Sales, Inc. and relocated to the present site along Illinois Route 9 at the East end of town.
Along with the dealership, the Ford cars and trucks have undergone many changes. Prices have changed as well since the early days when one of the first Ford vehicles sold in 1921 for $370.00.
Many engineering changes have taken place and many new features added to vehicles since the first buildings were constructed in La Harpe to sell Fords.
The first building to house a La Harpe Automobile Agency was erected by George Locke and used by R.B. Williams, until 1916.
The agency then became Sticklen Motor Company representing Ford Motor Company until l944. It was then sold to Leslie Reeder and operated as Reeder Motor Company until the time of Reeder's death in l956.
Wayne E. Yetter and Harold Johnson purchased the business in 1957, and it became La Harpe Motor Sales prior to the 1959 partnership of Yetter and Hasten.
Partners for nearly 43 years, Wayne Yetter and Billie Hasten have enjoyed serving the La Harpe community and expressed their appreciation for the support of everyone throughout all their years in business.
The retiring partners extended best wishes to the new K and C Enterprise Co. and its owners, Ken and Carron Foster, Tim and Nancy Crose and Lenus and Barb Duffie. Lenus Duffie will continue as head repair service manager.
