The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
A treasure may be awaiting an adventurous soul in Section11 of Media Township.
After the War of 1812 a man named Harris came West to claim his Bounty Land awarded him for his military service.
He cleared a small piece of ground and built a log cabin. Sometime soon after he was found dead by neighbors with no murderer found.
Many years later a criminal being hanged in Cincinnati confessed to the crime saying that he had seen Harris withdraw a large amount of money from a New York bank so followed him West to Henderson County where he killed him.
Ransacking the cabin, the murderer found only a quarter which he threw down in disgust and left.
What happened to Harris' money? Is it buried on a hillside in this Section? It was never found.
