Dallas City Council February Meeting

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting on February 27, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Lila Gittings called the meeting to order with the following Commissioners present: Nick Huston, Harold Northup, Jr., Esther Newberry, and John Pieper.

Others attending the meeting were Chris Classen and Lyle Terry.

The minutes of February 13, 2002 were approved.

Council members discussed a lease with the American Legion for a Memorial. It had been discussed and agreed on at an earlier meeting. The lease was read as prepared by the City Attorney.

All agreed to sign the lease for the American Legion to use the city lot afater Nick Huston made the motion and Esther Newberry approved.

Lyle Terry discussed doing some work on the lot and putting in a new sidewalk in front of the property. The City Council said they had no objection to this work being done.

The members then discussed the boat dock and needed repairs.

The City Clerk contracted the Department of Conservation and they referred the Council to a contractor in Wyoming. He will contact the City and look at this in the next few weeks.

Chris Classen reported that there had been two water breaks, but everything else seems to be running fine.

Harold Northup showed some examples of a web site for the City. He discussed some items that might be used on the web page. Everyone was asked to think about this and bring their ideas to the next meeting.

A plan from Natural Resources Conservation on making a wildlife plan on the ground by the sewer treatment plant was talked about. It was decided to continue discussing this project at the next meeting.

The Council discussed running an ad for bids to mow the cemetery. The City will run an ad in The Journal Pilot and The Henderson County Quill. The bids will be opened on March 27, 2002. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
