Ruth Davis was
born 93 years ago on a farm about 7 miles West of La Harpe.
As a child she attended rural schools in the La Harpe area and later graduated from Dallas City High School in l926.
After graduation Ruth attended Carthage College for 1 year and then went on to Western Illinois University for her teaching degree and in 1929 married Gerald Davis who passed away in l963.
Her first 20 years of teaching were in rural country schools and the last 20 years of teaching for Ruth Davis was as a 4th grade teacher in the La Harpe Public School District.
In l972 Ruth retired from teaching and for many years she has been a devoted Volunteer for the Senior Citizens at the La Harpe Senior Citizen Center and spent many years on the County Senior Citizen Board attending meetings in Quincy.
Ruth finds that volunteering and serving others makes her happy and her many neices and nephews are also the highlight of her life and she is theirs.
Her hobbies are reading and going on mystery bus trips. Ruth is also an active member of the La Harpe Methodist Church which is a big part of her life.
