Dallas City Council June Meeting Held

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting on June 12, at 7 p.m.

Mayor Lila Gittings called the meeting to order with the following Commissioners present: Harold Northrup, Jr., Esther Newberry, and John Pieper. Nick Huston was absent.

Others attending were Ruth Higgins, Brad Lanier, George Marsden, Dorn Luder, Rod Clark, Michelle Allaman-Lavadier Construction Co., Bobbi Leggett, and Jerry Duffy.

Bids were opened for water line replacement on Leinbaugh Street. The bids were as follows: Lavadier Construction - $24,987 with bid bond, Energy Efficient - $30,556 with bid bind, Hillyer, Inc. - $42,035 with bid bond, Therp Brothers - $38,851.96 with cashiers check.\ Brad Lanier from Klinger Engineering will tabulate bids and meet with the City Council at the next meeting.

Ruth Higgins appeared regarding fencing off her property for a benefit for the American Legion on June 30, 2002. She also requested that her liquor license be extended to 11:00 a.m.

A motion was made by Northrup, seconded by Newberry to approve the requests of Ruth Higgins. Northrup, Newberry, Pieper, and Gittings - Aye. Huston - Absent.

George Marsden and Bobbi Leggett appeared regarding barking dogs and also junk on property.

The City Attorney discussed the annual appropriation ordinance. The Ordinance #542 was approved in tentative form.

The board approved to hold meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

The City web page was discussed. This is now on the system but more will be added.

Minutes and bills were approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
