La Harpe Summerfest 2002

July 24-July 27

Along with C & D Amusement Carnival rides, there will be entertainment and food nightly at this year's Summerfest celebration in La Harpe.

Wednesday, July 24th will begin with the American Legion serving a BBQ Beef dinner at the Masonic Lodge, and the entertainment will be a "Variety Show," with Dianne Balmer in charge of the local talent.

Thursday, July 25 has the Volunteer Firemen serving a fish supper at the Masonic Lodge and the Women's Legion Auxiliary serving tacos in the park. On stage are "The Country Travelers" -a five-group band which plays a little bit of everything! The Lions' frog jumping contest is Thursday also.

Friday, July 26th, starts with the First State Bank of Western Illinois serving hot dogs outside the bank. The Masons will be serving a chicken dinner at the Masonic Lodge and the Women's Legion Auxiliary will again have tacos in the park. On stage will be "Dead Ringer" -a classic rock group that is worth staying up for! Also, Friday will be the turtle races sponsored by the LaHarpe Lions Club.

Saturday, July 27th rounds things up with breakfast at the Methodist Church, all kinds of kids events, one-block race, triangle races, games in the park, etc. The Summerfest parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Golden Rule Club will have sloppy joes and hot dogs in the park, and there will be a garden tractor pull at 1 p.m.

Saturday evening, the Lions will have their pork chop dinner at the Masonic Lodge and again, the Women's Auxiliary will have tacos in the park. "Exalt" will be back on stage after the FFA auction.

There will be a flea market Wednesday-Saturday, and various organizations setting up all week.

Neighboring communities are invited to town to help celebrate the annual La Harpe Summerfest. Bring your lawn chair to ensure a good seat for the free evening entertainment!
