Abundant Life Church Holds Farewell Reception For Martin Family

by Gloria Snyder, Quill Staff

The Abundant Life Church Fellowship hall was the scene of a farewell reception for Pastor Darryl Martin, his wife Lori and their three sons Chris, Parrish, and Seth.

At 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, friends and members of the Abundant Life Church family gathered for a potluck meal and to share memories with the Martin family, as well as lots of picture taking. After the dinner a special cake was served and the Martin family was given a suitcase full of going away "gag" gifts to take with them. They included such specialties as a straw hat for Parrish to keep in style as he travels South, Chris received a set of unbreakable drum sticks, Lori was given a pair of cowgirl boots to keep her in the latest of fashion, and Pastor Darryl was given his very own "speeding exemption" card for the road. For the whole family, a slotted spoon was given, to remind them that "the unimportant stuff would slide through and to hold onto the important stuff."

The Martin family will be residing in the state of Tennesse where Pastor Darryl has accepted the position of Pastor at a church there. They have resided in La Harpe for the past seven years where Darryl was the Pastor of the Abundant Life Church.

The family has been a blessing to the Abundant Life Church family and we will miss them very much. We wish them "God speed" and God's blessings in all they do.
