Already living in Honey Creek Township (Lomax Township today) in 1838 when the Pence family arrived were Jonathan Nichols and Robert Crownover.
That same year Samuel Logan, a native of Pennsylvania and a veteran of the War of 1812 sold his Indiana farm and moved his family to Henderson County.
He was one of those individual who enjoyed the wilderness and in fact, hunted game until his death in 1859. 1882
