Summerfest began today with the following activities: C & D Amusement Carnival rides with entertainment and food nightly.
Wednesday, July 24th
On Wednesday, July 24th, the day will begin with the American Legion serving a BBQ Beef dinner at the Masonic Lodge. In the evening the entertainment will be a talent and "Variety Show" which you can still enter by calling Dianne Balmer at 217-659-3929.
Thursday, July 25th
On Thursday, July 25th, the Volunteer Firemen will be serving a fish supper at the Masonic Lodge and the Women's Legion Auxiliary will be serving tacos in the park.
Later, on stage for your musical enjoyment will be "The Country Travelers" a five-group band which plays a little bit of everything! Prior to the show, the Lions' frog jumping contest will be held.
Friday, July 26th
On Friday, July 26th, the events begin with the First State Bank of Western Illinois serving free hot dogs outside their bank. The Masons will be serving a chicken dinner at the Masonic Lodge and the Women's Legion Auxiliary will again have tacos in the park.
On stage will be "Dead Ringer " - a classic rock group worth staying up for! Also Friday will be the turtle races sponsored by the La Harpe Lions Club.
Saturday, July 27th
Saturday, July 27th rounds things up with breakfast at the Methodist Church, all kinds of kids events, one-block race, triangle races, games in the park, etc. A parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Golden Rule Club will have Sloppy Joes and Hot Dogs in the park, and there will be a Garden Tractor-Pull at 1 p.m.
Saturday evening, the Lions will have their pork chop dinner at the Masonic Lodge and again, the Women's Auxiliary will have Tacos in the park. "Exalt" will be back on stage after the FFA auction.
There will be a flea market Wednesday-Saturday, and various organizations setting up all week.
The local organizations and the city of La Harpe appreciate your attendance and your support.
Please come and bring relatives and friends for a time of relaxation and fun together.
