Henderson County has been finalizing plans for Relay For Life this weekend, a f un-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society.
During the event, teams of people will gather at Union School's football field and track and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.
Sandy Lefler of Stronghurst who chairs the Relay For Life in Henderson County is proud of her group of workers and those who are stepping out to walk this Friday and Saturday. Not only is it a very moving event, it makes you feel so thankful for the progress the American Cancer Society is making because of its volunteers.
Even during tough times, a little bit can become a lot when many people pool their resources together for a cause such as fighting cancer.
There are several sponsors of this event along with The Quill who has personally been touched by some sort of cancer.
