Stronghurst Booster Club Has A Winner In 50/50 Drawing

Wednesday, July 17th the Stronghurst Booster Club drew the winning 50/50 ticket in support of the improvements to the Stronghurst Village Park. Booster Club President Todd Lange (right) and Vice President Tom Doran are excited to announce Carol Sprock as the holder of the winning ticket for a grand prize of $1,000.

The other $1,000 will be given to the Village for the Park Fund.

The Village received a $35,000 matching grant for improvements to the park which requires the village to come up with $35,000.

At the park, the Booster Club, who initiated this project, have erected a progress thermometer to chart the funds as they grow.

The Booster Club appreciates those who participated in this drawing and for all their support of the park. Fundraisers will continue until the $35,000 is raised.

When the funds have been raised, a total of $70,000 will be used for sand volleyball court, 3 on 3 basketball court, tennis court improvements to allow tennis or basketball. The shelter house, which was originally an ice skating rink will be improved to once again allow ice skating. Additional new playground equipment will be purchased. New sidewalks throughout with benches and educational areas and landscaping planned.

"It will be an ongoing project, and is not going to end with this grant," said Tony Griepentrog, Village Trustee assigned to Grant Administration.

"We will be continuing to improve as funds are made available," he said.

Approximately $800 from a steak fry, and $1,000 from the 50/50 drawing have brought in $1800 toward the matching grant thus far. As the fund drive continues, anyone may contribute by sending donations to the Stronghurst Booster Club, c/o Don Moeller, Treasurer, P.O. Box 52, Stronghurst, Illinois 61480.
