Marie Atkins moved to LaHarpe in 1985 from Disco before moving to town. Marie and her late husband E.L. (Tommy) farmed in the Disco area for many years. After her husband passed away in 1970, she continued to stay on the farm for fifteen years. She attended school in Stronghurst, Roseville and later graduated from Monmouth school of Nursing. Besides working on their farm, Marie raised three children and now has eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Marie is active in her clubs for 50 years. She's been a member of the Disco Club, DAR for 35 years, American Legion Auxiliary in Roseville for 68 years and belongs to the Mayflower Society. She attended church in Disco for many years and now goes to the Union Church in LaHarpe. Donna J. Grisham Quill Staff
