I want to say how much I enjoyed going to watch the Mustangs play baseball the past weeks. The coaches are to be commended on their time and caring in working with the boys. Something I do not understand is why the tournament has to be played as it is. One game in the hot sun and heat is bad enough, but to play two, maybe three games with a half hour between is hard to understand.
No way can they play their "best" the second game; not to mention the possibility of heat-related problems. I know of two such cases, involving a child and an adult.
There is an excellent booklet put out by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Summer Survival and can be picked up at the LaHarpe-Davier Clinic or from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Springfield, IL 217-782-5750.
