Dallas City Meeting Held

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting on June 26, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Lila Gittings calling the meeting to order.

The following Commissioners were present: Harold Northup, Jr., Esther Newberry and John Pieper. Nick Huston was absent.

Others attending the meeting were Chris Classen and Robbin Danielson.

Robbin Danielson asked about closing Oak Street from the 4-way stop to the alley for Bank Customer Appreciation Day on July 12, 2002, from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Northup with all present voting yes.

Chris Classen discussed having some sewer lines televised to check for leaks. Durand Construction has equipment for this at a cost of $125.00 per hour and $45.00 per hour thereafter.

This will be discussed at a later meeting. Discussed sealing the driveway at the sewer plant. It was decided to have this done at an approximate cost of $100.00.

Harold Northup discussed getting a pipe cutter and threader for the City to use on repair projects. Will check on price and it will be discussed at a later meeting.

Esther Newberry discussed a culvert by the old water plant that appears to be in bad shape.

A motion was made by Pieper, seconded by Northup to award contract to Lavediere Construction for $24,987.00 to replace water line on Leinbaugh Street. Northup, Newberry, Pieper and Gittings - Aye. Huston - Absent.

Discussed County Dog Catcher in Carthage and if the City wants to give him authority to write tickets. This will be brought up at the next meeting.

Discussed all-terrain vehicles running on City property and in the City Cemetery. There is a City Ordinance prohibiting such action. It will be discussed at the next meeting.
