The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Eighteen local adults are leaving for Mexico Saturday to do mission work. The group will join 6 or 7 others who spend the winter there.
From Monday through Thursday the group will be working on a Hispanic Church in Mission, Texas. They also plan to paint inside the church building they had built last year, give food and medicine to the clinic, give blankets and food to an orphanage, and do concrete work for a missionary that lives there.
The churches that are involved in the trip have asked for donations of over the counter medicine to take to the clinic. Blankets were made by church members in advance to take to the orphanage. All of the food will be purchased when they get there so there isn't problems transporting any of the goods over the border.
Three of the eighteen from the La Harpe Christian Church, are flying down early to get set-up and make sure all will be ready for the rest of the group. The rest of the group will be driving down.
The group will be staying in Mission, Texas at a building that is owned by an individual who bought it for the sole purpose of housing missionaries or individuals who need a nice place to stay.
Since the adults pay for all of their own expenses, the need to raise money is not so great. They have, however, raised around $1000 to be spent for the projects they do while in Mexico. Any extra money will be used to buy food or medicine for the clinic.
