The La Harpe and Northwestern junior high boys squared off in action on Thursday, January 17, at La Harpe. The seventh grade contest was first, and this one went to the Huskies 36-18. Derrick Daudelin paced the Eagles with 8 points. Tyler Sharpe added 5 points. Blake Mealey and Tanner Smith scored 3 and 2 points, respectively. Kylen Carpenter grabbed 9 rebounds to lead La Harpe on the boards. Daudelin and Sharpe also dished out 2 assists each.
The eighth grade contest followed, and this one went all La Harpe's way in a 60-16 victory. Eight Eagles reached the scoring column on the night, led by Kevin Mershon's 15. Bryant Fernetti tallied 13 points and Zack Lotz added 12. Justin Sparrow also reached double digits with 10. Randy Bray contributed 4 points, while Jesse Palmer, John Bruns and Shane Pinkston scored 2 each. Bruns, Fernetti and Mershon grabbed 3 rebounds each for La Harpe. Alex Rodeffer added 3 assists in the win, with Mershon also adding 4 steals.
