On January 8th, at 7:00 p.m., the Union Elementary, conducted graduation ceremonies for its 5th grade D.A.R.E. students. The Sheriff's Department and Elementary Staff honored 47 students for making a commitment to maintain a drug free life. It was the 11th consecutive 5th grade D.A.R.E. class.
One of the requirements to graduate from D.A.R.E. is to complete an essay about taking a stand against drugs. The essays are graded and judged. Six students received awards for the best essays. They are: Justin Allaman, Ashley Ericson, Brandon Gapen, Amber Mann, Zach Nelson, and Samantha McCraw. (Next week we will print their essays.)
