Letters to Editor

Dear Dessa,

Hello!! This will be the last chance that I will be able to write to you.

I am leaving here real soon - finally being able to return stateside.

I want to thank you personally for corresponding with me while I have been deployed.

I hope that I was able to provide a little insight on what a typical military person thinks about and endures while being deployed away from their loved ones and their country.

It has been a honor for me to have you print my letters and photos.

I just wish that I was able to write more often, but do the tremendous demand on the operations tempo, it was quite difficult.

When I return stateside I have a small present to give to you as a remembrance of this deployment.

It is just my way of showing you how thankful I am for you and your readers support of our military and the individual military members in today's war on terrorism.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did. God Bless America.

I'll see you soon - back in the good 'ol United States!!!!

Respectfully,
TSgt Pat Hall

Dear Editor,

What is a great way to spend a night out?

Go to a play at the Raritan Opera House and watch a play put on by your very own children!

That's what I did! I had a great time.

The talent of our youth in this area is amazing!

Each and every young person did a fantastic job.

Congratulations to a group of talented young people!

Let's not forget the stage and prop, sound, spotlight and lighting crews. Without them, the play would not be complete.

Oh Yeah! A "Big Job Well Done" to Cindy Smith, Sally Day and Skeet Stribling, the Directors.

Everyone did a great job!

A Review:

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: SCROOGE AND MARLEY

Presented by the Southern High School Rebel Theater

For me personally, the test of a stage production is whether or not I temporarily forget who is playing the parts and think of them as the characters presented.

This happened for me at the Thursday evening presentation.

Patrick Rountree became Marley's ghost.

Darrell Stribling was transformed into a cantankerous old miser.

Alton Luder was the careful clerk and warm family man, Bob Cratchit.

Devon Stribling appeared as the nephew that was not the least bit threatened by the miserly Uncle Scrooge.

Corie Grafton did well as the social worker flummoxed by the Christmas hating business man before her.

Audrey Corey presented the ghosts of Christmas past and present with skill, becoming an avenging angel of judgment as she threw Scrooge's words back at him: "ARE THERE NO PRISONS! ARE THERE NO WORKHOUSES!"

Darrell's tour of the audience as the reformed man emphasized the point of the play very well.

The other cast members (Bryan Bohnenkamp,Valerie Corey,Thad Tharpe, Landon Talbott, Tristin Cain, Ashley Lewis, Stephanie Wisslead, Emily Ford, Lynn Buss, Emily Smith

:Andrew Stribling, Dustin Stribling, Olivia Crandall, Cassandra Gibb, Kristin Peterson, Holly Hendrickson and Alyssa Harkness) knew their parts and supported the story very well.

Stephanie Wisslead was spooky as the Ghost of Christmas Future. Dustin Stribling stole the show as Tiny Tim.

The crew did well in the scene changes, lighting, sound and so forth.

I was able to hear and see clearly with a minimum of distraction.

The Thursday evening audience gave the cast a well deserved standing ovation at the end.

A hearty "God Bless Us Every One" to Skeet Stribling and Sally Day, and all the cast and crew for a job well done.

Dear Editor

Happy Birthday Jesus

This is the season of the birthday of the Prince of Peace.

It is time to pray for all the fighting and killing to cease.

Jesus is the reason for the season.

He wants us to reach out a helping hand,

To give love to our fellow man.

We should not give our time or money to those selling hate, death, and war.

We should pick our selves up off the floor.

Promote love, peach, happiness, and more.

That is why Jesus was born in a manger.

So we could all live with love; safe, secure, warm, free from danger,

We all have a life to live,  let's live it The right way.

Loving each other throughout the year, and

On the Prince of Peace's birthday.

God gave us life to live, not to take.

Suicide and murder are both a mistake.

This Christmas let's ring the bells and promote peace, happiness, and good cheer.

Not just for a day, let's love each other every day of the year.

Happy Birthday Jesus.
