Tuesday April 16, the Rebel baseball team traveled to Williamsfield for a big 8-4 win.

As of lately, the Rebels have started out fast and continued so by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Josh Ragar, Nathan Corzatt and Brandon Rothzen each singled, Ryan Keever walked and Chris Wilson successfully bunted for a 3-0 Rebel lead.

Williamsfield answered in the bottom of the first with a run of their own to cut the score to 3-1.

In the top of the fourth, led off the inning with a home run. Josh Ragar and Christopher Wisslead then scored for a 6-1 Rebel lead.

Williamsfield answered with another run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-2. In the sixth, Matt McIntire crossed the plate for another Rebel score making the score 7-2.

Williamsfield pushed across two more runs in their half of the sixth making the score 7-4.

Southern ended the scoring in the seventh when they added another run when Brandon Rothzen crossed the plate for the final score of 8-4.

Christopher Wisslead had a big day on the mound for the Rebels. He fanned 16 of the 33 batters he faced while walking only three. He gave up four runs on eight hits for the game and dominated the Williamsfield batters the entire game. Wisslead has four wins and 2 losses for the season.

Thursday April 18, Southern traveled to Monmouth to play Warren on a very windy day, with gusts up to 30 MPH.

Southern's Josh Ragar took a no hitter into the bottom of the fifth inning. Ragar used a variety of pitches and help from the wind to keep the Warren offense in check. Freshman Andrew Linder caught a solid game for the Rebels behind the plate battling the wind and flying dirt.

Both team offenses started off slow hampered by the wind conditions. Southern jumped on the board first scoring three runs in the top of the second inning.

Ryan Keever walked, stole second, advanced to third on a Ryan Smith single and scored on a Billy Ford bunt down the first base line. Ryan Smith and Matt McIntire also scored for the 3-0 Rebel lead.

Southern exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning with Ragar, Wisslead, Corzatt, Rothzen, Keever, Ford and Linder all crossing the plate for the 10-0 lead. They scored three more runs in the top of the fifth with Ragar, Wisslead and Corzatt to extend the Rebel lead to 13-0. Warren then batted in the bottom of the fifth where they pushed across their lone score of the game for a final score of 13-1.
