The Southern FFA had their 2nd Annual Chapter Banquet on Sunday, April 7, 2002 at St. Pat's Community Center near Raritan.
Fisher's Jack and Jill's Grocery in Stronghurst catered a delicious meal.
The Banquet followed the meal and included the recognition of the foundation sponsors, so important to FFA.
The installment of the Honorary Chapter Degree, and the Greenhand and Chapter Degrees and Awards were given.
Awards were given to the Southern FFA Star Farmer, Nathan Corzatt, the Star Agri-business, Lee Brokaw, and the Star in Ag Mechanics, Aaron Magee.
The most active Green-hand at Southern in FFA was Rachael Bundy, and the most active chapter member was Lee Brokaw.
Jess Bond received the $250 chapter scholarship.
The Bank of Stronghurst and Riverland F.S. received the Honorary Chapter Degree for this year for their great support.
Sarah Swenson, the state FFA reporter, gave a motivational speech on her experiences in the FFA.
A Labor Auction followed the banquet where FFA members were auctioned off for eight hours of labor to parents, and community supporters.
The chapter raised approximately $820 at the auction to help pay for banquet expenses.
Approximately 70 FFA members, parents, and community supporters were in attendance.
The Southern FFA Chapter now have fall and winter candle scents still available, and spring scents should arrive soon!
