Pilot newspaper in Carthage sponsored contest, where five students from each
school were nominated on the basis of scholastic achievements and participation
in school activities, Emily Eddington was named Journal Pilot Leader for
the 21st Century from La Harpe.
This was as a result of each student who entered the contest filling out an application.
The nominees were then narrowed down to five students from each area school, then a final nomination was made and each month one student from a school was selected to be named Leader for the 21st Century.
Emily, who is the daughter of Gary and Jackie Eddington of La Harpe, is a Senior at La Harpe High School and has an older sister Kelly and a brother Ryan.
Her school activities include cheerleading - 4 years- 2 time UCA all Star, National Honor Society, Year book Editor, Art-4 years, Bi-County Art Awards, Chorus- Solo/Ensemble Contest Awards, Senior Class Secretary, Homecoming Court, Sweetheart Dance Queen, High Honor Roll- 4 years, as well as instructing Tumbling at Macomb YMCA.
After graduation Emily plans to attend Monmouth College with Communications Major and has made Monmouth's Cheerleading Squad. Her hobbies include cheerleading year around and Art, attributing her artistic talents to her older sister Kelly and her own love for art. Emily stated that her Art teacher Mrs. Stevenson is a big influence in her life also.
Emily belongs to the Christian Church of La Harpe where she is involved in such activities as Flute Choir and the Nursery.
