The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
The first Bi-County Conference game against the Colchester Indians was a battle of the pitchers. LH/NW took the wind with the score 2-0.
The second game was tied 3-3 and was suspended because of darkness. It will resume April 19th when Colchester is scheduled at LH for a single game.
The Lady Thunder scored the only runs in the 1st game in the 2nd inning. Amber Pence led off with a single to right. She stole 2nd and scored 1 out later on a double down the left field line by April Horton. Marcy Wood followed shortly sfter with a double that scored Horton.
The Thunder took credit for 1 double play in the 4th. Colchester's Megan Winters was attempting the steal after Colchester's Summers struck out. Jessie Rodeffer threw it down to 3rd to pick off Winters, and end the inning with a smile and their 2nd double of the season.
Bruns was credited with the win and is now 3-1. She threw a great game holding Colchester to 3 hits and had 5 strike outs. She walked 1 and there were 3 team errors.
Game 2
In game 2 Brianne Bennett's 2 run single in the second gave us the 2-0 lead. The 3rd run was scored in the 5th as Pence walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and 3rd on an error. She then scored on another wild pitch. Colchester rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th. Darcy Lenix stopped the winning run at 3rd base by getting the batter to ground out to short and end it.
Lenix recorded only 2 hits on 5 innings. She pitched strong for us and even surprised herself. She was not expecting to pitch this season and we were glad we had her. She had a total of 8 strike outs in the unfinished game.
