Dallas City Council March Meeting

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting on March 27, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. Mayor Lila Gittings called the meeting to order with the following Commissioners present: Nick Huston, Harold Northup Jr., Esther Newberry, and John Pieper.

Others attending the meeting were Chris Classen.

The minutes of March 13, 2002 were approved.

Chris Classen discussed a letter from the EPA on a few recommendations. Chris has called and they have agreed to the solution to these problems which are to be corrected in the next week.

Commissioner Northup discussed an electric welder that is not working. The cost to repair it is $266.29.

A new welder would cost $425.00. This was also discussed at the March 13, 2002 meeting. A motion was made by Northup and seconded by Huston to buy a new welder from S.J. Smith, Keokuk, Iowa. All approved in the roll-call vote.

Commissioner Northup also discussed the Dallas City web site which is still in progress.

Commissioner Pieper discussed replacing the tennis court nets. This will be discussed at a later meeting.

Opened mowing bids. The following bids were opened:

Brandon Beach $375.00

Jeff Ravenscraft $395.00

Marion Huffman $435.00

Ronnie Gittings $375.00

A motion was made by Northup, seconded by Huston to award the bid to Ronnie Gittings for $375.00 per mowing. Huston, Northup, and Pieper -Aye. Newberry, Gittings-Abstain.

Discussed a letter from Hancock County Economic Development Association asking for a payment of $2,500.00. This will de discussed at the next meeting.

The Council also discussed: City-wide clean-up, and Cleaning out culverts to improve drainage.
